This lesson provided a useful overview of the various types of tests and assessments which are commonly used in a TEFL classroom. While many of the basic structures of assessment types were familiar to me from my time as a student of foreign languages, I found it very helpful to have some guidelines as to how and when each should be used. In addition the chapter was very good at succinctly explaining the various external exams available to students of English as a foreign language. This information should prove valuable to me in terms of understanding my student?s goals as well as allowing me to provide better instruction for those who are contemplating taking external exams.
