This unit covered Modal Verbs, Phrasal Verbs, and Passive Voice. First, this unit explained Modal Auxiliary Verbs. Modal Auxiliary Verbs have three main uses: One, to add meaning to the main verb, much like an adverb does, two, to express ideas, such as, obligation and ability, and three, to express formality. Second, this unit explained Passive Voice. Passive voice is used to draw attention away from the performer of the action and place attention on the action being performed. Third, this unit explained Phrasal Verbs. Phrasal verbs are multi word verbs used with prepositions, adverbs, or both. Finally, I have learned that the form of Modal Auxiliary Verbs does not change even when person changes in a sentence. I have also learned that the best way to teach Phrasal Verbs, which intimidate even me, is to use them frequently in basic uncontrolled conversations with students.
