I have learnt from this unit that there are 12 tenses in English language. As for present tenses they are 4: Present Simple Tense (or Present Indefinite Tense), Present Continuous Tense (or Present Progressive Tense), Present Perfect Tense and Present Perfect Continuous Tense. All these tenses have their special usage. For example, the main usage of Present Simple Tense is habitual or routine action, permanent situation or fact, etc. Present Continuous Tense is mostly used to talk about actions in progress or temporary actions. Present Perfect Tense can be used mostly for finished actions, but the result of which is connected with present. The Present Perfect Continuous Tense relates past activities to the present. It implies that the activity is going to continue in the future, or that the activity was in progress for some time. All these tenses have specific structure as well.
