This unit first discussed modal auxiliary verbs, giving examples of different modals and what they are used for. The provided table is very useful, and helped clear up how to explain the difference in nuance for similar modals (e.g. can/could, have to/must). The unit then discussed passive voice, which I believe to be a difficult subject for ESL students, particularly because verbs change tense and the use of ?to be?. Once again, the table showing how verbs change for passive sentences is very useful at explaining this clearly. Next, the unit explained relative clauses. While this was an adequate overview, I would liked to have seen more of an explanation of clauses in general before moving onto relative clauses and relative pronouns, especially as this is a big area of study in ESL learning. Finally, the unit finished with phrasal verbs. I agree that the best way to teach these is teaching them as a set, and using them as often as possible.
