Various types of classes were covered in unit 19. Specifically, the unit laid out the difference between young and adult learners, beginners, business English learners, and the difference between monolingual and multilingual classes. When thinking of multilingual learners, I thought of the university English as a second language learners at my home university. Students have a variety of backgrounds and while some students shared a language most of the class did not. It forced them to work outside of their comfort zone and made them more extroverted than their counterparts in a sister all-Japanese student program on campus. As for young learners, it was stressed that a class should be warm, welcoming, fun, and engaging. Much more so than an average class. As for business English learners, the challenges faced by students and teachers was covered. There are many outside forces that come into play in a business environment one might not see in a normal classroom.
