Unit 1 begins with a break down of the different roles the teacher must incorporate into his/her teaching in order to have successful classes. I've learnt that is it is important for the teacher to have patience with his/her students and be sensitive when correcting students, as constant corrections can lead to students becoming disheartened. I've also learnt that it's important that the teacher takes a step back from the class sometimes and allow the students to practice what they have learned amongst themselves and attempt to answer questions using their own initiative. The teacher should be sure to monitor all of his/her students and keep an eye on their progress in the classroom and pinpoint any weaknesses they may have in order to work on how they can help their students improve. I've also learnt about what makes a good learner. Willingness in the classroom is a very important trait for students to have; willingness to listen, willingness to ask questions and a willingness and desire to learn.
