This unit covers various grammar points: modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. The modal auxiliary verbs are often used in conversation, but might be confusing for foreignres that have other ways to express posibilities, requests and obligations in their native language. Some languges uses just specific forms of the verbs or distinct expressions. The passive voice formation is similar in many languges and it should be easily understood, but the frequent mistake I have noticced, is that students have the reflex to keep the performer of the action as the focus of the sentence. Relative sentences can be confusing, because of the variety of the relative pronouns. Students tend to use 'that' more often than other pronouns. Phrasal verbs are the hardest to grasp. It is about remembering a large combination between verbs and prepositions that might not have a logical connection. Though there are vital in understanding the real situations and conversations, many students will have difficulties in using them properly.
