Unit 16 deals with conditionals and reported speech, something that many students have issues with, more so depending on the culture. Hypothetical language is entertaining, but effectively teaching the correct uses and conditions are somewhat difficult. Conditionals are however, very effective for engage phases of lessons as they often like to fantasize about \"if,\" especially in the second or third conditional. In order not to confuse the different conditionals, using \"split sentences,\" \"complete the conditional,\" \"change conditionals,\" \"what a question,\" \"nuclear bunker role play,\" and \"what would happen if\" exercises in a study phase might be most beneficial. In terms of reported speech and direct speech, an understanding of verb tenses, the use of pronouns, and time expressions definitely helped understand the correct use. In terms of teaching students, I'll take the advice, \"slowly, slowly\" as it appears to be a huge challenge for non-native speakers. With that in mind, the recommended activities should help the students develop fluency with the situations. Reading and writing jokes could also be a good way of activating ideas addressed in this lesson.
