Unit 12 focused on the two productive skills - speaking and writing. When teaching and developing speaking skills, it is important to have a balance of accuracy and fluency activities. In an ESA structured classroom, the study stage will be used for accuracy activities to check that students understand the language before the Activate stage where they will use it in fluency activities. Written text is just as important as speaking and important factors to focus on are handwritting, spelling and punctuation. Creative writing is also a great activity as it engages well with students and creates a sense of achievement with the finished product.
