There are a lot of teaching aids or equipment that we can use to teach students. It can be used to make the lesson more interesting, effective and does not depend on books all the time. The board can used for writing, drawing, sticking things on etc. When using the board we should always remember the following: we need to start with a clean board. Write legibly and neatly. Use the correct writing tool for the board. Keep the board clear and easy to read. Only put essential or requested information on the board. Avoid unnecessary capitalization, it is more difficult to read than lower case letters. Interactive whiteboards (IWBs) is a large interactive display in a form factor of a whiteboard. Always remember IWB might have some problems during the lesson since it's a computer, we should always have a back up plan ready. Overhead projector (OHP) are useful for showing pre-prepared overhead transparencies, but the classroom need a surface that is not bleached out by direct sunlight. Some OHPs can be rather complicated or troublesome to set up. Visual aids can be often used to explain the meaning more quickly and effectively, it attracts students attentions. Worksheets and word card can be use to adapt published materials, act as a cue material, we can write our own exercises with authentic materials. Cassette recorder has been one of the most useful tool, we can used it to record authentic materials, records the students communications. Video/DVDs/CD are also being used now. Video camera can be extremely useful, the students can use this to record a film as a part of an activity or project. Dictionaries can help the students to look up for the meaning, pronunciation and usage. Course book and resource books can be very helpful as well.
