Teach English in Shuizhai Zhen - Meizhou Shi

From Unit 1 'Teachers and Learners' I've learnt that both teacher and learner have important role to create an effective lesson to each other. As for teacher: In terms of personality, it is important that they are kind and patient, lively and entertaining, able to motivate learners and they love to teach. In terms of relationship between students, a 'good teacher' have good subject knowledge, build good relationship and interact with the class, able to correct students' error without offending them or without losing their motivation. As for teacher's role: I've learnt that there are several roles that teacher can take such as Manager who is in charge of class and the activity. They are likely to be standing in front of the classroom giving explanation, etc. Organizer which in the note i read it was stated as one of the most important role because they have to organise student to start, initiate, and close the activities and giving feedback. There are more roles involved for teachers but in any role, it is important for teachers to be able to switch between different roles depends on students, lesson situation appropriately. As for student: a good learners are willing to listen, experiment, not afraid of making mistake and accepting those errors and learn from mistake, desire to learn, etc. Learners' character may vary depends on their cultural background and age. I've learnt the some tip and different approach for both adult learner and young learner. To conclude, Unit 1 gave me some basic information on what is a good teacher/learner is, the role of teacher, etc. It is important for teachers to be able to switch different roles in appropriate situation which also means that flexibility and open-minded is also very important to become a 'good teacher'.
