Teach English in Qiling Zhen - Meizhou Shi

In unit 9, I have learnt that planning lessons will be important for me as new teacher. It will be important as otherwise my lessons may lack direction. A clear lesson plan will help me to get my thoughts straight and to get a grasp of what I expect the students to achieve by the of a lesson. It will also help me keep to a target and help me with timing. Furthermore, accurate lesson plans will help me keep track of what I have taught and where I am heading. I know realise that it is helpful to have a flexible approach to lesson planning so that if during the lesson I need to change things I am able to adapt my approach. It is definitely a good idea to make sure all equipment, aids and materials are ready prior to a lesson because this will help it run smoothly. I have learnt that a key part of a lesson plan is to include a lesson objective as this will insure that I have a clear idea of what the students will be able to do by the end of the lesson ie 'what they will have learnt'. I have learnt 'timing' in a lesson is also important so that you keep the lesson at a good pace and you have enough work prepared to fill the allotted time. It is also helpful to include an evaluation section in your lesson plan so that you can note how well the lesson went, whether the objectives were met and what the next steps will be. It is also key to consider if some objectives or skills need to be revisited. I have also learnt that it is important to be able to plan a sequence of lessons as things are not just taught in isolation but need to be included in an overall claim where objectives can be reviewed and altered if necessary. Planning a sequence of lessons will also help me to put variety and balance into the activities I wish to include and make sure all skills are covered.
