This chapter covered language teaching methodologies, the ESA lesson structure, and corrections. There are many methodologies and each of them have their pros and cons. The most interesting methodology that I learned about was Suggestopaedia. Some of the other methodologies I have heard about and use in class. I also believe that we should use a combination of different methodologies so one can take advantage of all the different pros. For example, the usefulness of the grammar-translation method is being able to understand a foreign language based on something everyone knows, their mother language. But, through that method, there won't be much communicative practice. That's why the task-based learning should be used with grammar-translation so you can practice communicating with the foreign language as well. It is my first time formally learning about the ESA structure although I have been using this lesson structure in class all the time. My lessons have always been straight arrow lessons though. I am excited to try using the patchwork and boomerang lesson plans. Lastly, this chapter introduced when we should correct students throughout the different stages of the lesson. There are lots of stuff that I was already aware of such as over-correction during communicative stages of the lesson like during the engage and activate stages. However, using a grading code for writing was something that I didn't know about it. I think it's very effective in letting students self correct their own mistakes. I also have forgotten about student - student corrections. In my class I have been focusing more on students self correction and teacher correction. Hopefully, in the future, I can use what I learned in this chapter to teach students how to correct each other and peer review.
