This unit explains in detail the various forms of how a sentence is structured in the English language. Based on the information from this unit, I learned the specific terminology of each word in the provided example sentences. Previously, I already knew the basic definitions of what a noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, and adverb were through my own prior schooling. Therefore my previous knowledge was helpful with this unit. There were some terms which I had heard about but forgot over time such as gerund. There was a lot more information about specific subcategories of the basic definitions. For example, the term noun is a person, place, thing or concept. However, there are specific types of words resulting in different noun definitions: a proper noun, common noun, compound noun, abstract noun, collective noun, countable nouns, uncountable nouns and plural nouns. Each noun had a specific meaning depending on the type it was as well. Some of the terms had irregularities which are important to emphasis because not all the rules apply to every word. For example, plural nouns usually will end with an ?-s? but depending if the word ends with a ?-sh?, ?-ch?, ?-x? it would most likely end with an ?-es? instead. Nonetheless, this basic information is highly important to understand for the student learning English as well as the teacher teaching it. Sentence structures are the basics to learn a new language and this unit dives deep enough to explain all of the different types of word structures, definitions, and examples. This unit taught me once again how complicated the English language can be to someone who is starting to learn this language. Overall, this unit explains the terminology of what each word represents in a sentence in the English language with many examples.
