Like in the last Unit, Unit 20 reinforced the idea of pacing and attentiveness in a classroom. As teachers, being conscious of ways to create a more successful learning environment is paramount. We should never put the rigidity of the syllabus first if we can tell it's not having the impact we intended, or if the teacher is too lazy to change lesson plans around in order to adjust to the pace of the classroom. My personal attitude towards this is that the best way to get all students on the same page is to have a classroom be accountable for its collective learning. Yes, personal test scores and worksheet speed are objectives for each individual student to achieve, but it's more of an accomplishment to be able to explain a concept to a classmate, I believe. That's when a teacher will know that one student truly understands a concept. That's why techniques like that of pairing stronger and weaker students together are ones I feel I'll get behind, as it will ideally unify the classroom mission and make student's excited about their collective progress.
