This unit goes over the topic of modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. Modal auxiliary verbs are used before other verbs to add meaning to the main verb, they could be used to express obligation, possibility, permission/prohibition, ability and advice. Modal auxiliary verbs include can, could, may, might, would, will, must, etc. Passive voice is usually used when the \"doer\" of the action is not known, not important or if we don't want to express who. In passive voice the focus is on the subject as opposed to the focus being on the agent in active voice. Relative clauses are also covered in the unit, and is divided into defining relative clause, which holds essential meaning to the sentence, and non-defining relative clause, which only adds information to the sentence but is not essential. Phrasal verbs are multi-word verbs which consists of a main verb plus a preposition or adverb, or main verb plus an adverb and a preposition. These are divided into intransitive phrasal verbs, transitive separable phrasal verbs and transitive inseparable phrasal verbs.
