The following is an overview and what I learnt from this unit. 1.The past tense which is used with actions completed at definite time in the past. I have also learnt that there are common mistakes and errors that the students usually make when using this tense. Some of these mistakes are made with the use of did and did not. 2.Past perfect tense talks about a past action and a related action before that. here we use the conjugated auxiliary verb before the main verb which is in the past. 3.Past continues tense is used for past interpreted action . this tense is also used in description , combining past continues tense with pas simple tense. There are common mistakes that arises from the students as they use this tense. Some of these mistakes and errors are, omission of the ing at the end of the verb, some students confuse this tense with past simple tense. 4.Past perfect continues tense is used to talk about longer actions in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment we are thinking about. i have also learnt that When identifying a sentence tense, I should focus on the on the structure of a sentence rather than its usage because structure is what dictates the tense used.
