In this unit, I learned about materials I can use in my classroom, such as authentic materials, created materials and textbooks. All three have their advanatages and disadvantages, and are suited for different kinds of learners. For instance, authentic materials are not suited for beginners, but they are interesting and can help intermediate or advanced students become confident in their reading abilities. Created materials can be graded to the level of the learner, but they can become tedious. Lastly, textbooks can be useful to create a logical syllabus, but as a teacher I cannot rely on it too heavily because it could stifle my creativity.
