The unit provides us with a variety of ways to evaluate students. Most teachers evaluate their students continuously. Teachers can make use of tutorials, self-evaluation by the students or tests to determine students level of language. Tests can be used as a tool to place students according to their language ability, it can also be used to measure the individual progress of the students. External testing can also be of value to the student in furthering his/her studies or career. Assessing the students with regular intervals will enable the teacher to see if there are any gaps in the learning process and adjust the lesson plans accordingly.
