This unit was about when to use tests and evaluations, and how to evaluate your class without testing. Diagnostic tests are used to identify the level that your students are at. Most schools require formal testings, although some argue that formal testing are more memory based and do not show an realistic representation of what the student does and doesn't know.This lesson taught me the ups and downs of using course books versus authentic materials and how to effectively use both in the classroom. By learning what advantages come with using a textbook such as a structured syllabus and materials that are easily gradable I also learned the downsides which is that a lesson can be too robotic and uninteresting to students.
