When it comes to tenses teachers might be afraid commonly books refer to them as there are 12 tenses in total. That's a lot. However, the EFL approach is that there are 3 tenses: present, past and future. Each tense has for aspects: simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous. This unit covered the Present tense. I found it very useful particularly the differences between the present perfect and continuous. I learned that the present continuous is normally used when we are referring to an incomplete/on going activity that most probably will continue in the future and we want to mentioned for how long it has continued: \"I've been studying in China for three years\". Also, it refers to a finished activity that has an effect at the present: \"I am exhausted, I've been studying Chinese for one week\". It was also interesting to learned that some verbs such as \"know, like, believe, prefer\" cannot take the continuous form. Instead of saying \"I've been believing in christians for five years\" you'd rather say \"I've believed in christians for five years\".
