This unit focused on the various forms of past tense: past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. The fact that the unit was set out in the same format as the Present Tense Unit meant that it was easy to follow however, as this unit was much more condensed that the Present Tense Unit, it was far less intimidating. As with the Perfect Tense Unit, I felt like I learned a lot in studying this. The easy explanations of the different form and usage of each part of the past tense will make it much easier to identify future examples of this. I can also draw on these easy explanations if such a problem were to arise in a future lesson, meaning that my explanations will be better prepared and less confusing than if I was put on the spot. The Past Perfect Continuous tense seems to be the one that would be most confusing for students, and the one that they will have the least chance to practice. It is therefore useful to study this in more detail through this course for future reference and to be aware of the common mistakes/errors that may arise.
