This unit covers the four different types of Past Tense verbs. The simplest is Past Perfect which is used for actions completed in the past at a specific time -- \"I watched the moon rise last night.\" The second is Past Continuous and, among others, it is used in sentences that have interrupted past actions-- \"While I was reading, the dog barked loudly,\" and without a time expression -- \"The hill was getting steeper.\" The third past tense verb form discussed was Past Perfect, and this shows actions that occured before other actions in the past -- \"Had we gone to bed on time, we wouldn't be so tired.\" The final tense is Past Perfect Continuous which is used to talk about longer actions or situations that had been going on -- \"Had she been studying when the lights went out?\" All of these tenses follow the same general rules as Present and Future verb tenses. This was a very good review for me as, again, I have learned this information but don't remember the reasons we use each tense. I also enjoyed some of the Activiate exercises that were talked about.
