The content of Unit 4 focused on present tenses and their different forms. It explained how there are four present tenses, the present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. In addition to this, each tense can be written in a positive, negative, or question form. Each form possesses a different structure. For example, the structure for the positive form of a present simple would be, subject + auxiliary verb + base form, e.g. I do read. The structure for the negative form would be, subject + auxiliary verb + not + base form, e.g. I do not read. Finally, the question form would be as follows, auxiliary verb + subject + base form, e.g. Do I read? Through the duration of this unit I learned about the form and structures of present tense. I also learned in what context each form is used, as well as some of the usual mistakes and errors that the student can make. The unit also provided some activities that can be employed to help the students better understand the material, while still keeping them engaged and the student talk time high.
