I have been studying English since I was 10 years old, after many years of being a student I had an opportunity to teach first in the public school, then in private school (10 years after I started learning it back to my school days), and one this stays the same through all the years - particularly in my home country, Russia, the most of teachers'/students' attention is focused on the grammar aspect of English language. The method we use is drilling mostly, an infinite number of worksheets with grammar exercises of all sorts, so grammar is probably one of the strongest points of English teaching practice in Russia. And at the same time even though most of the students don't have any troubles completing those exercises on paper, they have enormous difficulties using most of the grammar they have learnt in their speech. It is more an observation than opinion, though I would like to find a way to implement all the knowledge I get from this and previous units to be able to help my future students not just understand all the grammar rules but fluently use them in their speech.
