I learned about the different course materials and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Authentic materials are real-life materials, and they are good to build confidence and are usually more interesting. Created materials are made up or constructed, usually by the teacher. They are good to supplement course activities or for a bit of variety in the lesson. Specifically, course books also have their place in a classroom but should not be overused. Teachers also should pay close attention to a course book (if used) to evaluate if it’s the right fit for the class. Some considerations include the price, methodology, and syllabus.
