Looking for the right course book is one of the most important tasks a teacher needs to undergo. Due to the nature of quantity production, a course book cannot take into consideration the needs of the individual learners. As an outcome, accurate assumptions are made when preparing a course book. Topics should be wide-open, so as to allow for as much discussion and scope as possible. This is the idea that all learners at a given level are going along the same learning journey. This is the issue that you expect course books to be in a ready-to-go format, with the lessons already planned out in the teacher's book and the materials in the course book and all the teacher needs to do is deliver it. The teacher's book, as I originally understood it, is supposed to be the part of the course book package where all the procedure to delivering the lesson can be found. In other words, the teacher's book is essentially supposed to be a ready-to-go lesson plan. However, few teachers I know actually use the book in that way. Most language teachers still rely on course-books to provide the activities they will use in the classroom and most course-books do not typically provide activities which foster creativity. It is therefore important that teachers make use of their course-book as a resource rather than follow it as a script and that they develop the confidence, awareness and creativity to adapt course-book activities in ways which can foster creativity. One way of adapting course-books so that they foster creativity is by opening up their closed activities so that they invite a variety of personal responses instead of requiring all the learners to give the same correct answer. While learning or lesson materials in teaching are crucial to the success of student achievement. That is, the instructional components of lesson planning in teaching depend on the selection of teaching materials. Lesson materials is a generic term used to describe the resources teachers use to deliver instruction. Lesson materials can support student learning and increase student success. Ideally, the teaching materials will be tailored to the content in which they're being used, to the students in whose class they are being used, and the teacher. Lesson materials come in many shapes and sizes, but they all have in common the ability to support student learning.
