I definitely have a better idea of what roles the teacher does in the class. At first, I thought that you were supposed to stand up in front of the class and teach the lesson but I didn't know that was not very effective. Preparing students to do some group activities and I now have ideas of what I want to do when I become an English teacher. I really want to do the Jet programme and taking this course online is giving me a better understanding of the classroom. The section about the students' language level also really helped me out for my own language learning. I think I will be more comfortable teaching at the Intermediate and Advanced levels but the beginner level could also be very fun. The motivation is stuff I already knew about. In my case, what motivates me to learn a learn language is that I really want to study abroad and then move to that country. Culture plays the bigger role for motivation than something like a career door opener. Somewhere like Japan would be different for the students since English is very important to enter University or for Business. I would like to be the teacher who helps students realize that their dream to travel to English-speaking countries is possible when you work at it and I also want to help them with test preparation. I am really glad I am taking this course.
