Unit three focuses on course development. When first meeting your students, a teacher should find out what they know and what will need to be taught. Five different levels are looked at (elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, lower advanced, and advanced). After discerning the level of students by testing, a teacher should give a needs analysis. A sample needs analysis is provided. Teachers should keep in mind the design of their syllabus. Assessments will not only show the teacher how well the program worked, but also give students an idea of how far they?ve come. Examinations and evaluations are things to look forward to at the end of a course!
