After having gone through all the previous units of this course, I gained a better appreciation of teaching english to non-native speakers. Where before I used to give a lesson based on either what I wanted to teach or what students wanted to learn, now that I know how to use a lesson plan I am able to plan ahead and map a general course of where I would like the lessons to go. Another important thing I gained is a better understanding of grammar rules. I used to avoid teaching grammar to students, but since I started working on my tesol certification I have become more confident and I can now explain the rules more thoroughly. I will definitely make use of the lesson plan format in my lessons, and I will keep in mind what I have learned regarding teaching english to young and adult learners alike.
