I have not learned anything new about english grammar, even my english was not my first language. But it was nice to refresh my memory. On the other side, I learned a lot about the teaching methodology, and that was the main purpose of taking this course. In my elementary school, I studied German, as a foreign language, for 4 years. In high school, it was British english. Before moving to Canada, I had 3 months of ESL classes in mono-lingual classroom in Europe. In Canada I studied part time Canadian version of english for a year in multi-lingual classrooms. Then I finished college in Canada, and have already been working in IT industry for 10 years. Last 4 years I lived in usa. I can say that I have had opportunity to be exposed to different versions of english. I am glad that I was an ESL student, and that experience should help me in my teaching. My best ESL teachers were not native english speaking people. Ultimately I am planning to use the certificates to teach in europe. Overall I feel that the course was very well structured and covered any areas which are necessary to enter a classroom with the confidence to begin teaching right from the get-go.
