Working as an EFL teacher while taking this course has been extremely useful in giving me new ideas for making my teaching more effective and varied. I lacked too much classroom flexibility given my school's over-reliance on course books, but I found ways to use those books more effectively by using the material to do a host of different activities not covered in the books (drawing games, partner activities, group vocabulary games, musical dictations, etc). As a result, my classes were much more varied and interesting for both myself and my students (as well as the other teachers at my school who began borrowing some of my classroom activities). In addition to making the coursework more fun, this course also allowed me to understand english grammar better and help explain it to my students, but more importantly to my Korean co-teachers responsible for teaching the bulk of the english grammar at my school. Overall, this has been a highly useful course, especially for someone with no formal pedagogical training like me.
