Overall, I gained a really good understanding of the logistical side of running a classroom and conducting an ongoing learning environment. As someone who understands grammatical structures and felt like I had a solid background in sentence deconstruction, it was certainly an eye opener to see how difficult it can be to communicate grammar rules to students in a simple way. I definitely learned a lot about describing grammatical structures to students and also how complicated the english language can be. It was so important to see what kind of common mistakes and difficulties students may have when studying english. I also found the exercises on lesson plans extremely helpful. I am currently a higher education administrator and an organized person by nature, and I liked learning about the planning and organization side of teaching. I can really see how critical that is to maximizing the learning environment. I have a BA in International Studies and I have just started my last project for a MA in Global Education Policy. My career plans are centered in International Higher Education program development. I will be completing the add-on certificate for Business english after this certificate and I hope to, in the near future, be able to teach english at the university level or in a corporate business english setting. Ultimately, I would love to be the director of a Business english program in an international institution!
