I feel I have gained a lot from this course in more ways than one. Grammar is maybe the one aspect of this course that I found challenging. Ignorance maybe, but I was completely unaware that the sentences I used in everyday day life had a formula and I was therefore unaware of how to appropriately teach sentence structure to students and the importance of it. I feel that, through this course I have a good, basic understanding of how our language works and have found the importance of it quite interesting. Because of this, I have now decided to take an english language and literature degree to further my study in our unique language. Possibly my favorite thing about this course was the units on teaching and more specifically, the idea of engage, study, activate. This has made me realise how much fun every class can and should be and if I am having fun, my students will do too. This is something I will always remember when making lesson plans. To be honest, I am not entirely sure if I would prefer to teach general adult english, business english or young learners. I feel I will only have a preference after experiencing all three. Therefore I have decided to take extra courses after this one to equip me with the skills I need for the two other teaching areas. I currently reside in Spain and through this course hope to be able to use my new skills teaching here, although it is nice to know that with this occupation it is possible to travel around a lot of the world while working, which is something I think I will look into when my daughter has grown up. I think it is fair to say that I am excited about the opportunities this course has possibly opened to me.
