I have gained a working knowledge on how ESL lessons are conducted overseas. I have been taught in an english system, so most of my lesson plans are derived from lesson plans I have previously been exposed to while I was in school learning english as a first language. I previously thought that most lessons were lifted straight from a textbook, but from this course, I have come to realize that while the textbook is a guide, it ultimately does not provide for the rest of package that of activities that foster learning. The majority of the activities require creativeness on the part of the teacher. I would utilize what I learned by having lessons that are more heavy on interaction and games than by lectures and non-interactive work.
