One thing I can say is that I wish I would have read some of the later lessons like 19 and 20 before I taught my first english classes because I learned some very valuable information in them! I have realized as a native english speaker how much I don't know and how much I will continue to learn when I teach in the classroom, as well when students ask me questions. I have learned what it means to be a teacher and how much time, effort, and dedication it takes. There are teachers who put in four years of time, effort and dedication to earn a degree and teaching and although I have only worked for 120 hours, I plan to dedicate myself to my teaching a course of english as a Second Language just as much. I plan to start teaching officially in January 2012, and possibly do some minor assistantships at my university beforehand with ESL students. I am excited to use the techniques and resources I have acquired from this course with my new students and I am sure I will be referring back to them constantly within my first year. The lesson plan template has been a great resource and I plan to use that a lot, as well as the many resources for games and exercises in my lesson plans. The phonetics and phonology lesson was especially helpful and something that is not focused on enough and I plan to incorporate that into my lessons.
