The Welsh people have realised that their native language is a synonym for their identity. Different movements had been set up to protect it and not to let it die out. In a result of this, Welsh is still a living language and it is used by thousands of locals throughout wales. Though today?s Welsh speakers are not monoglots, except may be some elderly people who live in traditional Welsh speaking regions, they have managed to keep it and are able to use it. At the same time, they can speak English, too. We come to the conclusions that it is really important and necessary for those people who do not know English to learn it. Especially as the world nowadays is ?one big place? and many people have become cosmopolitan. They would always benefit if they could use the today?s world global language ? the English. This does not mean that if they belong to a minority of people, they should forget their own native language. Native languages give identity to the different nationalities; they show or can be used to express the characteristics of one or another group of people. English is the present global language. That?s why people who know it, who master it would be able to use this skill into their advantage. There will be always people who will want to learn it because they have realised that knowing it could open for them ?many doors? in life.
