Why complete a TEFL courseI have always wanted to live in other countries and experience the different cultures and people. I absolutely love teaching from the basic of things to the more complicated. It gives me so much happiness when people learn the simplest of things from me to better themselves. What a great thing it is that I can live and experience other countries and cultures and teach locals English. Why TEFL, well how can I feel confident in teaching proper English such as structured sentences, grammar or verb tenses if I do not remember much about the different parts of a sentence. I want to learn how to teach English so I can teach it correctly. I want to get certified in teaching English so that it betters my chances of landing a job in another country. Employers want to see a certificate so that they feel I am serious about teaching and that I have at least a basic understanding and knowledge of what I am doing so that the students in the class are not wasting their time or money. Besides learning how to teach English, TEFL has contacts to help me get a job in other countries and has been doing this much longer than I have so therefore TEFL can guide me in the right direction when called upon. Learning to teach English is like anything else. You must learn how to do something before one can actually perform it correctly. A baby must learn how to crawl before he or she can walk. I would not want to fly a plane without learning how to fly start. It is about baby steps. Yes, in this phase I have taken the basic course on how to teach English but I know down the road I will want to learn more on the subject so I can be a better resource for my students. When I got my pilot?s license, I thought I knew the basics of flying but then I went on to get my instrument rating and after completing the instrument rating, I realized how much I did not know being up in the sky before with just my private pilot?s license. I also realized how much I still needed to learn after obtaining my instrument rating. My friend who is a commercial pilot said, ?Wait until you get your commercial rating, you will be amazed how much you really did not know with just obtaining your private pilot?s license and instrument rating.? That is scary because I did have that feeling after getting my instrument rating. It is a goal of mine to try to always strive to learn more and educate myself continuously. I love to be adventurous and try new things. I also love to try to educate others so that they can better themselves. TEFL is well-known and has many courses on how to teach English and I wanted to start to learn how to teach basic English to foreign students, so that is why I signed up for the course. After completing the TEFL twenty unit course, I feel satisfied that I can at least get a job somewhere and teach basic English. Yes I have more to learn on the subject but the twenty unit course all around was well rounded. It covered a lot of the basics. I know that if I have any problems with finding a job or finding good course material, I can call on TEFL support to help me out. I have enjoyed learning how to teach English to foreigners with this short twenty unit course. I feel confident I have a starting point when walking into the classroom as a teacher of English for the first time. The TEFL has given me that confidence. Why complete a tefl course? Well, I ask you, why not?
