This unit was a brief look at the receptive skills that students should have in the classroom and why they are important. These receptive skills are both reading and listening, and both are equally as important to the students. The unit explained the different receptive skills and how to strengthen each by using exercises in the classroom that activate both the reading skills and the listening skills of the students.In this unit, we looked at evaluation and testing within the classroom. It was interesting for me to note the variety of approaches one can take to learn English based on a specific purpose. The testing process is useful, especially as a new teacher, as it will allow me to gauge the level of the students instead of guessing. It can also be a measure of what I need to change as I progress through the teaching process.
