In my opinion it is very important, not only to test students at the beginning to assess which level class that they should be in, but also to test them periodically to check their progress. This unit is very helpful in understanding the variety of tests, and when they should be applied. Without testing we rob our students of the opportunity to advance correctly, or we push them imto teachiings that may be inappropriate for their level.There are many ideas and concepts professionals have gathered over the years to improve and enhance methods to learn and teach English. Translation, lingualism, presentation, practice, production, task-based learning, communcative learning, and many more.
