Our 170-hour Teaching English as a Foreign Language with Online Specialization has been designed for those who would like to gain a qualification to enter the TEFL/TESOL employment market and wish to maximize their options. Through this course we will give you the knowledge and skills needed to teach English in both classroom and online settings. The course is taken in two parts: First, our 120-hour certification is completed. This is followed by a further 50-hours of study looking at the particular skills needed to teach English online. One added benefit of the course is that on completion you will gain access to a unique graduate network, connecting you to ITTT alumni currently employed by many of the major employers in online teaching.
The 120-hour TEFL course must be taken and completed first, followed by the 50-hour TEO course. Course participants are offered the option of either receiving two individual certificates as they complete each of the course components, or a single 170-hour certificate on completion of both.
Target Group
This course is designed for those who have no previous TEFL or TESOL experience, or who are looking for an initial certificate in TEFL and for anyone who is currently working or intends to work within the field of teaching English either online or in a classroom.
No previous experience or training in teaching English is required to complete this course.

Summative task
For both sections of the course, once you have fully studied the material for each unit, your understanding of it will be assessed through a multiple choice test before you move on to the next unit. Upon completing the test, you should check your answers and review your work before submitting. When you have successfully completed all units by scoring 75% or more on average overall, you will then complete a final task. Your certificate will be issued on successful completion.
You will be given up to six months to complete each part of the course (so a maximum of 12 months), and within this time frame you can work at whatever pace you feel comfortable with.

Upon successfully completing the full 170-hour Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language with Online Specialization, course graduates should be able to discuss and evaluate the process of teaching English Online using industry standard terminology, have real-world ideas for creating individual lessons that are tailored to the student’s requirements, while also having clear ideas on how to execute the lessons to a wide spectrum of target online individuals or groups. Taking one of our courses with an additional Practicum (CTPR) option offers a number of advantages to graduates. These include a greater range of skills covered by your training and in some situations the advantage of having teaching practice experience, which some employers prefer.
Participants will teach real English Language Learners (ELLs) over a range of topics. There are a couple of options to how the lessons are undertaken and reported upon. You can either:
Find a school or language center of your choice (either in-class or online) and teach your lessons there. The school will sign off that you have completed these lessons and your documents will be sent to ITTT for verification, or you find your own ELL student/s and teach the lessons independently at a location of your choice, either face to face or remotely (via Skype, Zoom, etc.). You will video one of these sessions (1 hour) and send it to ITTT with your other documentation for verification.
