Unit 10 was one of the most unique lessons so far in this curriculum. Rather than our usual chapter texts, this unit instead included two videos we were required to watch. They were two different real life lessons. We were required to apply our current existing knowledge on teaching successful lesson plans and creating a effective classroom rapport to the two videos and compare them. I found this unit as a great way to view real life examples of what works and doesn't work in teaching a class.I enjoyed learning about the different techniques to activate students thinking. I also think that including an activating activity such as the video recording helps with keeping students motivated and interested in what they are learning. It is important that while teaching to keep in mind that receptive skills promote understanding and teachers not only need to check for understanding but promote it as well. Jigsaw puzzles are a fun way to challenge students while checking for understanding.
