Unit 1 covers learner and teacher roles. This unit also explains what methods and characteristics will enable both the teacher and learner to be successful in the classroom. I learned that there are many different types of learners, adults and young people being the two major categories. These learners have unique motivations. Learning what a student?s motivation is will enable the teacher to encourage successful learning. The teacher?s role in the classroom varies between participant, tutor, facilitator, model, and monitor. A successful teacher will use all roles at appropriate times.
