Using visual materials in the classroom is nothing new. It has been recognized the power of visual materials to capture the attention of learners, increase their motivation and enhance their learning experience.Reinforces reading and lecture material,Promotes teacher effectiveness and aids in the development of a common base of knowledge among students.It is great for applying the task-based approach. Images may help aid understanding and learning of concepts that are difficult to explain verbally.I found this unit useful for classroom.Unit 14 discusses in detail the advantages and disadvantages of using authentic and created materials, as well as textbooks. Each kind of course material has its benefits and its downfalls. I believe from this unit and my own experience that using authentic materials often allow us to make lessons more specific to our students and more effective to their learner characteristics. However, I believe implementing a balanced approach to both authentic and pre-made materials will help us understand which we should use more with our students.
