This unit focused on how to work with a new classroom and different techniques to use. For example, on your first day teaching it is important to establish rapport with your students rather than rush into a grammar lesson. If you are placed with a class that is at a variety of levels, one method to deal with this may be to split the students into levels and generate appropriate materials based on level for each group. This unit was a great end to the TEFL course as it applied realistic, real-life experiences you will face as an ESL teacher.This was a decent unit and it had a few helpful and rather detailed explanations on how to combine teaching vocabulary, grammatical structures and language fuctions with the different types of ESA approaches that we already know. One thing that I consider to be very important in vocabulary teaching is finding various ways to revise with students previously taught vocabulary at the start of a new lesson. If I have enough time to prepare I will even try to find a way to link revision and introduction to the new topic in the same Engage phase.
