Lesson Planning is key to the beginner teach and will help them conceptualize the intangible product that teaching is. What one presents and gives students should follow an orderly structure to help be efficient, flexible, and productive. If these aren't met, then we know that the lesson can be restructured or finished up to help achieve the student's goals or the teacher's goals. By writing this all down, it provides a record to not only follow and use as a bouncing off point, but be used as a post-record of the lesson to look back at the success of individual elements, or critique it's failings. A written down plan, however, is not a cemented in bible. A teacher may stray from the lesson depending on the success of the students. Maybe a teacher has to spend more time in a general area, or a teacher needs to create more content because the lesson plan went to quickly. Both are okay as the Lesson Plan is a basis for what one teaches. The Plan is also thorough enough that other teacher's can follow the lesson plan if, say, you are sick and unable to teach. This way, another teacher can see, conceptualize, and plan based on your record you have left. It's a convenient way to communicate amongst teachers and standardize the teaching. The lesson goes into the details on how to create a lesson plan from scratch, following up on Unit 3's ESA approaches to learning. This further cements the ESA teaching styles as crucial to basic lesson planning and teaching.
