This unit once again reminded us that teaching must be flexible, but most importantly match the students needs and abilities with appropriate teaching methods. Students learn English for a multitude of reasons; from the small child enrolled by a parent to a business person trying to improve their English for corporate reasons. The world is a very competitive place and the emphasis on English continues to grow. The Needs Analysis test is very important. The student can clearly explain their motivation and aims for the program. The teacher will be accountable as much as the student to try and make their outcomes match their short and perhaps medium to long term goals.
