This unit taught me about the multitude of teaching equipment and aids. They include white boards, interactive white boards, overhead projectors, visual aids, worksheets/work cards, cassette recorders, CD players, videos/DVDs, video cameras, dictionaries, course books, resource books, photocopiers, computer, and various online sources to help both the teacher and the students. While reading through these items, it made me reflect on my past primary years as a student and my present experience teaching in a brick and mortar school. Of the items listed, overhead projectors are not used anymore where I live, as document cameras have taken their place. Cassette recorders are considered quite ancient and are not found in the present, however they were quite popular in the past; CD players are more commonly found in classrooms where I live in this day and age. Videos are no longer used as the technology has changed for the use of DVDs and Blueray (the latter of which is only compatible with PS3/4 systems, not computer DVD readers); youtube has been a great asset to the classroom as teachers can buy/rent films for students to watch and practice their English language skills. Chalkboards are not found as often in the classroom due to student/teacher allergies to the dust when cleaning the board. All other items are common, the the included fact that computers have become smaller/lighter/more compact and internet more accessible for both teachers and students where I live. I found all of the online sources links to be very helpful. I also would like to add that the videos to all unit lessons with ITTT have been very helpful in clarifying what I have not quite understood in reading the units alone, especially with the reported speech in the last lesson. Thank you for all of the resources and for presenting the information clearly!
