The video lessons in Unit 10 showed how the attitude of the teacher, from the moment they start the class, can set the tone for how the students will react to the class/lesson. By not engaging the students with a smile and an introduction of the teacher name as well as the students, but diving immediately into the lesson causes a closed-up group of students as they don't know what to expect. Lesson ONE was not effective for many, many reasons. The teacher never introduced himself or got to know the students names. He did not engage the students by using pictures or mimes to get them involved, rather he briefly mentioned what was the lesson going to be about, that it was \"easy\" and provided no instruction to the worksheets used during the lesson, leaving the students to appear confused and intimidated. In addition, the teachers attitude was bad, he look frustrated that they weren't answering any of his questions, he didn't monitor during the activities to offer guidance, during his boardwalk he kept his back to the class for too long and did not speak as he was writing everything out on the board, again, with no explanation. Lesson TWO on the other hand, was completely opposite. The teacher enters the room with a smile, introduced himself and wrote his name on the blackboard then proceeded to go around the room and ask the students their names, as well as have name cards on their desks so he could dress them properly. His gestures and activities really drew the students in to the lesson by following the lesson plan and engaging/studying and several activities. His instructions and explanations to the activities were through and the interaction with the students was constant. He monitored during activities and was consistent in his teaching. Nice to see the class end with clapping by both teacher and students and a happy send off for the evening while looking forward to the next week's class.
