This unit introduces various methodologies used in teaching English as a second language. It provides a brief overview and discusses their positive and negatives aspects. The unit then goes on to introduce a method known as \"Engage, Study, and Activate\" that will be the main focus for the course. It describes the point and goals of the three sections of the method and gives various examples of classroom activities for each. A particular emphasize is put on elicitation of responses from students to help them be more engaged in the class. Methods of correction and feedback, and how they fit in with each of the three sections, are also discussed.
